About Shelby Prows

Shelby Prows is a native of Southern Nevada who has worked in the mental health field since 2015. She attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she studied psychology, marriage and family therapy, and social work. Shelby earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies in 2016 and her Master’s degree in Social Work in 2021.

During her graduate training, Shelby worked with the Clark County School District and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults and brings a client-centered, strengths-based perspective to her work.

Throughout her career, Shelby has supported individuals with a wide range of needs, including children and adults with developmental disabilities, individuals experiencing homelessness, victims and survivors of human trafficking, and clients with complex trauma histories and severe mental illness. She also has extensive experience working with individuals experiencing psychosis and mania.

Shelby utilizes several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Play Therapy. She tailors her approach to each client rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all treatment model.

Her work is grounded in an individualized and holistic understanding of each person’s experiences, strengths, and needs. Shelby strives to create a supportive environment where clients can address challenges, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.
